This was my first shoot with Katharine McPhee and the amazing Walter Chin. He has always been one of the top name photographer in New York since the 90’s and it was easy to see why. We was an absolute professional, with a keen eye for exactly what he wants to see. Once he saw the right shot appear on the digital screen, we were onto the next shot without a moments insecurity. His lighting was simple, yet superb and the results speak for themselves. Katharine looks relaxed, happy, and every bit a star on the verge of a huge career. What a SMASH!

Get the Look.

For the first shot, I simply rough dried the hair using KM Hair Resort Spray to give it a loose and beach-like texture which was really appropriate for someone so young and beautiful. Walter didn’t want her to look to look ‘predictable’.

For the second look (after a light twist with my conical curling iron) I pulled out my needle and thread and did a soft, messy up-do, while leaving plenty of pieces out to hang around her face and create a soft, sexy and very alluring frame to her eyes.
